Incorporated in 1793, the town of Randolph prospered as one of the nation’s leading shoe producers in the 1800’s. Today, the town is home to approximately 35,000 residents and is considered a suburban/residential community.
Randolph covers an area of 10.5 square miles and is located 15 miles south of Boston at the intersection of Routes 24 and 128. Its location has caused major economic growth and has made Randolph one of the region’s most culturally prosperous areas.
When Randolph was established in 1793, local farmers made shoes and boots to supplement their household incomes in addition to farming. In the 1800’s, Randolph was considered to be a shoe-manufacturing center. By 1850, the town had grown to be one of the nation’s leading shoe producers, shipping them as far away as Australia. Due to it being the home of many large shoe companies, popular fashions were created exclusively in Randolph, including the Randies. Today, the town is now primarily residential with light manufacturing, retail trade, and services.
The recreation committee for the town of Randolph periodically arranges exciting events and projects for its residents.
